Edith Imogene Yost
Edith Imogene Yost, 85, of Freedom, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012.
Jean was born November 16, 1926 in Rochester General Hospital, a daughter of the late Robert and Laura Belle (Fresch) Yost. She lived in the family home in Freedom for 82 years until she went to assisted living. She had been a member of the Freedom Methodist Church, a Worthy Matron of Eastern Star and delivered Meals on Wheels for many, many years. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and taught physical education at Ambridge High School, where she was known for Yale vs. Princeton girls basketball games. She will be remembered for her generosity to both her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, H. Leigh, Charles R. and John and a sister, R. Pearl.
Surviving are two nieces, Patricia L. Taylor, Hamilton, MT and Joyce Elaine (Doug) Bowers, Coraopolis, and two great-nephews, William and Charles Bowers.
Friends will be received Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, with the Rev. Doug Myers of the Unionville United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Freedom.
