Emerson Reed Barr, 81, formerly of Beaver, went home to be with the apple of eye, his wife, Beatrice (McCarty) Barr, on Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Cambridge Village, Patterson Twp.

Born March 4, 1936, in New Brighton, he was the son of the late James and Wilda (Weigle) Barr. He was a retired furnace operator for the former ZCA. Emerson kept a smile in the hearts of all that knew him with his quick wit. He devoted his life to his family. For years he took the family by car to visit his in-laws in Phoenix, Ariz. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post #19, both of New Brighton, the Van Buren Home Men's Club and was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed golfing.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Beatrice, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Barbara Ann Barr; his grandson, Sean Milliron, and two brothers, Raymond and James Barr.

Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathryn (Joseph) Walter, Brighton Twp., and Kristine Milliron (Mike Poloka), Portersville; three grandchildren, Bradley (Jamie Drake), Kelsey Milliron and Melissa Poloka; five great-grandchildren, Skyler, Kristopher, Domenic, Aubrey and Blake; four brothers, John (Lorraine) Barr, Alamorgorda, N.M.; Chuck Barr, Ohio; Don (Linda) Barr, Casa Grande, Ariz., and Ron (Mary Anne) Barr, Longs, S.C.; one sister, Wilda (Larry) McDaniel, New Brighton; a brother-in-law, Paul (Pam) McCarty, North Sewickley Twp., and numerous loving nieces, nephews.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, where a service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Angela Smith, officiating.

Interment will follow in Beaver Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Cambridge Village for the wonderful care given to their loved one.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made, in his name, to the United Way of Beaver County.
