Gerald (Jerry) Chaney, 63, of New Brighton, formerly of Murrells Inlet, SC, passed away in Good Samaritan Hospice, Brighton Township, on Friday, December 1, 2017.

Born March 13, 1954, at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, he was the son of the late Lee and Nancy (Butler) Chaney.

Jerry graduated from New Brighton High School in 1972.  He was an Air Force Veteran serving in San Antonio, Texas and Hawaii; and was a member of the Murrells Inlet Garden City Fire Department.

Jerry will be greatly missed by his sisters Karen (Mark) Helbling, Daugherty Twp., and Beth Williams, Gilmer, Texas, he is also survived by his nephews, Mark Helbling II, New Brighton, and C.J. (Ashley) Kati, Gilmer, Texas; and his extended family, Cathy and Billy Gene Mosley and family, Thornton, Texas; and the Felician Sisters of the Our Lady of Hope, Beaver Falls; and his cat Tessie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Leroy and Pamella (Senior) Chaney, and Raymond and Gladys (Braund) Butler; and nephew Raymond Lee Kati.

As per Jerry’s request, there will be no viewing or service.  He will be laid to rest in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Good Samaritan Hospice for the tender care of Jerry in his final days; and the Felician Sisters for their daily prayers and support over the past five years.
