Virginia E. (Hixson) Capo

Virginia E. (Hixson) Capo, 91, of New Brighton, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Providence Health Care, Beaver Falls.

Born September 21, 1921, in Darragh, PA, a daughter of the late William Z. and Twila (Albright) Hixson. Virginia was a proud veteran of WWII serving as a Lieutenant JG with the U.S. Navy as a nurse from 1944 to 1946. She was a retired registered nurse from the former Providence Hospital of Beaver Falls. She was a member of the New Brighton United Methodist Church, had been the choir director for several years at the former Fifth Avenue United Methodist Church of New Brighton and was a member of the Beaver Valley Choral Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Capo Sr., on March 28, 2006 and one brother, Edmond Hixson.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Ginger L. and Richard D. Herrera, Stockton, CA; Patty L. and Albert S. McCoy, Unity Twp, OH; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert H. Jr. and Karla Capo, New Sewickley Twp.; six grandsons, Matthew (Teri) Herrera, Sunnyvale, CA; Mark (Karen) Herrera, Los Angeles, CA; Steven Herrera, Stockton, CA;  Paul Herrera, Fresno, CA; Robert W. and Michael Capo, both of New Sewickley Twp.; three great-grandchildren, Xavier, Cecilia and Daniel; one brother, Wayne Hixson, Darragh, PA; two sisters, Marie Lawson, Madison, PA; Willa Mae (Leland) Hill, Fayetteville, TN; numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com. On Friday, friends will be received from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. in the New Brighton United Methodist Church, 925 11th St., New Brighton, with pastor Tracy Cox officiating.

Private interment will follow in Grove Cemetery, New Brighton.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Providence Health Care, especially the 3rd Floor, Valley Care in Ambridge and her home caregiver, Chrystal.
