Wilfred E. Rawl, 90, of Galloway, N.J., formerly of New Brighton, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017, at Royal Suites Health Center, Galloway.

Born January 5, 1927, in New Brighton, a son of the late Clayborne and Viola (Williams) Rawl, he was a graduate of New Brighton High School where he excelled in playing basketball and football. He then graduated from Indiana University where he played football for four years. While attending Indiana, he majored in mathematics and upon finishing his studies worked for IBM, developing computers. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Air Force and a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Anderson) Rawl.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Bruno and Michelle Rawl, Kingston, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Sarah Clegg, Daniel Rawl and Jarek Rawl, and two great-grandchildren, Kerri and Tyler Clegg.

Friends will be received Thursday from 10 a.m. until prayer at 11 a.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com. Rev. Bobby Wilson will officiate.

Private interment will follow in Grove Cemetery, New Brighton.
