Janice E. Tanner, 86, formerly of New Brighton, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024, surrounded by her loved one’s at her home in Harmar Township.
Born November 23, 1937, in Beaver Falls, she was a daughter of the late Thomas D. and Flora (Brown) Shaw. Prior to becoming a wonderful homemaker, she had worked at Montgomery Ward in Beaver Falls. She was an active member of Youth for Christ with Christian Missionary Alliance Church when she was younger. After being married she and her husband attended New Brighton Free Methodist Church for several years. She enjoyed taking trips to Hawaii and grew fond of their culture. She had a great attention to detail and visualization which were on display through her gardening, baking, decorating, and collecting of antiques. Janice will be remembered as being a gentle and kind woman that loved her family.
She is survived by the light of her life, her husband of over 61 years, James E. Tanner, children, Jodi (Kevin) Wagner, Jimmy (Eve) Tanner, grandchildren, Julie (Ben) Lloyd, Jimmy (Dana) Tanner, great-grandchildren, Tessa Lloyd, George Lloyd, Peter Lloyd, and Jane Tanner, sister, Jeannette Russell, niece, Jill (Josh) Bender, their children, Caroline and Hayden, and many other family members.
Along with her parents she was predeceased by her brother, Thomas “Tim” Shaw, and brother-in-law, Bob Russell.
Friends will be welcomed Monday, from 10am until the time of service at noon, at the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 3rd Ave. New Brighton, with Pastor Ben Lloyd officiating.
Private interment will follow at Concord Church Cemetery, Beaver Falls.
