Catherine J. “Kitty” (Ashton) Harris

Catherine J. Harris, 81, of New Brighton, passed away Monday, January 16, 2018 in Providence Care Center, Beaver Falls.

Born July 1, 1936 in New Brighton, she is the daughter of the late Charles and Mazie Jane (McMichael) Ashton.  Kitty was a member of the New Brighton United Methodist Church for over 60 years, where she also taught Sunday school for many years.  She was a member of the New Brighton Lioness Club and was an avid reader.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Robert “Bob” Harris; two brothers; William “Hop” Ashton, Charles James Ashton, a niece, Nancy Lynn, sister-in-law; Dona Lou Cox.

Surviving are a son and his wife; Russell (Anne) Harris, Mantua, Oh; a daughter and her husband; Colleen (Jeffrey) Fisher, State College, Pa; six grandchildren, Brooks(Becky), Chad(Erin), and Cate(Chris); Ryan(Holly), Eric and Matt; great grandchildren; Bryce, Marcus, Mason, Sydney and Scarlett; sister; Peggy Stancil, Canton, GA; two sisters-in-law; Joan and Judy Ashton, her best friend, Dolly.

Friends will be received Saturday from 2:00pm until time of funeral service at 3:00pm in the New Brighton United Methodist Church, 1033 6th Avenue, New Brighton with the Rev. Scott Berkley officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to New Brighton United Methodist Church or to the New Brighton Library.
