David L. Shields Sr., 72, of New Brighton, passed away Monday, February 18, 2019, at his home.
Born October 25, 1946, in New Brighton, a son of the late Edward F. and Tillie (Lekic) Shields. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. He served in the U.S. Navy on board the carrier USS Randolph. He worked at the former Reids Plastics in Leetsdale and was currently working at the Monaca Wal-Mart.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Janet (Pruszenski) Shields; son, David L. Shields Jr.; daughter, Racheal (Bryan) Cattivera; grandchildren, Bryan, Brennan and Brightyn Cattivera, all of New Brighton; four brothers; two sisters; many nieces, nephews and their families; and his canine companion, Toby. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Edward Shields
The will be no viewing. A memorial visitation will be held Thursday from 2 p.m. until time of blessing service at 4 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com.
Inurnment will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, New Brighton.
Members of the Beaver County Special Unit will meet at 4 p.m. at the funeral home to provide full military honors.
