Frank “Bugs” DeChellis Jr., 85, of Beaver Falls, received his heavenly reward, Saturday February 23, 2019, at Elmcroft of Chippewa.
Born November 7, 1933, in Beaver Falls he was a son of the late Rev. Frank DeChellis Sr. and Rose (Calabria) DeChellis. A man of great faith he was a lifelong member of the New Brighton Christian Assembly. A veteran of the United States Army for whom he played football throughout Germany. He was a longtime fast pitch softball pitcher and coach, and retired from Armstrong Cork after 47 years, having never missed a day. He loved his garden almost as much as he loved his family.
Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years Rosalie (Ferrario), his children, Deborah and Edward Kasparek, Sharon and Joseph Spratt, Michael and Theresa DeChellis, Robin and Bradley Palmer, Nick and Tracy DeChellis; grandchildren Brooke and Jeremy Greilsheimer, Zep and Shannon Spratt, Bradley and Margaret Palmer Jr., David and Ashley DeChellis, Kristopher and Kimmy Kasparek, Lindsay DeChellis and Matthew Thompson, Zachary and Anna Kasparek, Frank Dechellis, Jordan Spratt, Chelsey DeChellis and Danny Sodre; great-grandchildren Lilly, Grace, Luca, Stella, Nina, Kendall, Khloe, Kelsie, Isaiah, Kane, and baby DeChellis due in May; sister Dorothy and Richard Lasse, sisters-in-law Emma DeChellis, Mary Jane and Juanita Ferrario, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by sister Ida Mancini, and brothers Richard and Edward DeChellis.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 3rd Ave. New Brighton, and from 10 to the time of service, at 11am in the New Brighton Christian Assembly, 1810 Valley Ave. New Brighton, with Pastor Sam DeMarco officiating.
Private interment will take place following the service at Beaver Falls Cemetery and Memorial Park.
Members of the Beaver County Special Unit will meet at 11:30am at the church to provide full military honors.
