James L. Carr, 74, of Rochester, formerly of New Brighton, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at U.P.M.C. Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born December 27, 1943, in Aliquippa, a son of the late Edward R. and Clara "Kitty" (Barbera) Carr.
He was retired from A.E.S. where he was a pipefitter. Jim was longtime volunteer and former coach for New Brighton Youth Football, was an avid golfer and Pittsburgh sports fan. He was a member of the F.O.E. #1342, the United Croatian Club and Holy Family Catholic Church, all of New Brighton.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Susan (Funkhouser) Carr; one son, Eric Carr; one daughter, Leigh (Karen Kowalski) Carr, all of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; one sister, Mary I. Glaab, New Brighton; many nieces, nephews and their families.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, W. Edward, Robert C. and Thomas J. Carr, and one sister, Patricia Sheets.
Friends will be received Saturday from 2 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, with the Rev. Donald W. MacNeil officiating. Private interment will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, New Brighton.
In lieu of flowers the family wish memorials be made in his name to the Church of the Nazarene, 423 Penn Avenue, New Brighton, PA 15066.
