Marilyn Peters Obituary

Marilyn (Lutz) Peters
New Brighton
Marilyn (Lutz) Peters, 60, of New Brighton, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2019, peacefully into the arms of Jesus, at home with the love of her family by her side after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Marilyn was born July 18, 1959, and was a 1977 graduate of Riverside High School and a member of New Brighton Christian Assembly Church.
Marilyn was the daughter of the late John and Lorena (Gifford) Lutz and was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Blaskowitz and Irma Lutz.
Surviving are her husband of 35 years, David L. Peters and two sons, David R. Peters, North Carolina and Derek A. Peters and fiancée Angie, Texas. Marilyn is also survived by five sisters, Sarah Metcalf, Beaver Falls; Vivian (Michael) Biego, Ellwood City; Jeannie (Steve) Socci, Aliquippa; Pam (Rob) Cosky, Ellwood City;  and Nancy (Wes) Parish, Monaca; four brothers, George (Caroline) Lutz, New Castle; John (Laura) Lutz, Clayton, North Carolina; Robert Lutz, Beaver Falls; and William Lutz, Ellwood City; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marilyn was a dedicated mother and a loving and caring wife and proof that all things are possible.  She will be remembered for her infectious smile and the love she had for her family who always came first. She has inspired them through her life efforts and it has made lasting impressions. Marilyn was actively involved with her sons growing up. She also participated in New Brighton auxiliary groups and parents' organizations, New Brighton Football Mothers and New Brighton Youth Baseball.
Marilyn accomplished many things during her life and two of those were going back to college and earning a Bachelor's of Science degree from Geneva College and a Master's of Science degree from Robert Morris University. Marilyn was also a volunteer with the Make-a-Wish Foundation where she was responsible to meet and interview applicants; it gave her great joy when she was able to re-visit with positive news for her wish kids.
Marilyn also had a huge passion for Zumba. Marilyn became a certified instructor and taught Zumba classes at the Center at the Mall and New Brighton High School.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, and Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Sam DeMarco officiating.
