Nicholas S. "Nick" Finikiotis, formerly of New Brighton, died on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at UPMC Magee Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born April 15, 1928, in Kastellorizo, Greece, he was a son of the late Stavros and Mary Tsolakis Finikiotis. He was a Korean War Veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from management and before that, line operations at Armstrong World Industries, Beaver Falls. He was a recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from St. George Greek Orthodox Church, New Port Richey, Fla.
Nick enjoyed an active social life, religious studies and keeping up with world affairs. He loved to congregate with his friends at the Beaver County Center at the Mall and the Beaver County Association for the Blind.
He was preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his children, Viola Amygdalos Finikiotis, and wife, Jenny Gregory Finikiotis.
Surviving are three children, Steve Finikiotis, Julia Finikiotis and Dr. Michael Finikiotis, and daughter-in-law, Lori Tatko Finikiotis. Also surviving are two sisters, Chryssa Markakis and Mary Mouzak, and two grandchildren, Kristyna and Lauren Finikiotis.
A funeral service will held be on Monday at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 2930 Beaver Road, Ambridge, with Father Athanasios Athanasiou officiating.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Rd., Bridgeville, Pa., where he will receive full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in his name, to the Beaver County Association for the Blind, 616 4th St, Beaver Falls, PA 15010.
