Paul Joseph “Pete” Balik, 88, of New Brighton, passed away surrounded by his loving children Saturday, March 2, 2019.
Born August 1, 1930, in New Brighton he was a son of the late Paul S. and Ann (Smieska) Balik. He was a veteran of the US Air Force. A graduate of Geneva and Carnegie Mellon University earning a degree in Civil Engineering as well as a P.E. He retired from Michael Baker engineering after working for over forty years. Catholic by faith he was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, and served as an usher and contributor at the former SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church.
Surviving are his son Steve and Cindy Balik, daughters and son-in-laws, Mary and Alan Funovits, Amy and Scott Miller, Paula Balik and Rene Menard, grandchildren Paul S. and Chelsea Balik, Andrew and Philip Funovits, and Sam Miller, sister-in-laws, Vivian Ginand and Patti Modany, sister Viola Babo, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife Lila (Slyman) Balik, sister, Anna Mae Hardy, and brother, Charles Balik.
Friends will be received Tuesday March 5, from 3-8pm in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 3rd Ave. New Brighton, PA 15066, and from 9am until the time of prayers at 9:30am Wednesday March 6; followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10am at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 521 7th Ave. New Brighton, officiated by Father John Gallagher.
