Rose Olkowski Obituary

Rose Olkowski, 88, of New Brighton passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019 at Franciscan Manor, Beaver Falls.  Born March 16, 1931 in Fallston the daughter of the late Nicholas and Barbara (Budinscak) Krkuc.  She was a graduate of the New Brighton High School Class of 1948.  She worked at the former Townsend Company of Fallston until she met her lifetime partner, Edward Olkowski, whom she was married to for 63 years.  She was a lifelong member of SS. Cyril & Methodius and Holy Family Catholic Church.

Rose was a friend to all, and she loved children.  She served for many years as a dedicated member of the New Brighton PTA and managed the children’s saving’s program.  She loved to garden, read, spend time with her grandchildren and family.  She loved to attend her husband’s basketball games and was Midland High School’s most avid fan.  She loved cooking.  Ask anyone in the family or anyone in her basketball team family over the years, Rose made the best chocolate chip cookies - ever.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years Edward J. Olkowski, two daughters and one son-in-law Lynn and David Kenneally, Poquoson, VA; Patricia Tomaszewski, Coral Springs, FL; three grandchildren Christopher and Jacob Kenneally and Abbey Jo Tomaszewski, many nieces, nephews and their families.  A special Thank You to her niece and nephew, Judy and Bob Madder, for their loving support and guidance during this time.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother and his wife Nicholas and Sara Krkuc, two sisters and brothers-in-law Barbara and Joseph Malovich and Mildred and Jiggs Celinscak, one infant sister Rozie Krkuc and a sister and brothers-in-law of her husband Ed and their families.

Family and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am Saturday October 5, 2019 in the Holy Family Catholic Church, 521 7th Avenue, New Brighton.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, New Brighton.
