William E. “Bill” McCanna, 80, of New Brighton entered into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Saturday October 20, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospice Beaver.
Born December 23, 1937 in Beaver Falls a son of the late Charles and Alena (Colwell) McCanna. He attended New Brighton High School and retired from a job he loved as a railroad engineer for Conrail. He was a member of the Concord United Methodist Church and the Rochester Sportsman’s Club. He along with his wife, Beverly, delivered Meals On Wheels for many years. Bill enjoyed hunting (locally and in Wyoming), fishing, camping, working in his garden, anything that was outdoors and spending time with his family.
He was the loving husband of 33 years to Beverly (Murphy) McCanna; father of Jeffrey (Janet) McCanna, Beaver Falls; step-father to Gerald (Kimberly) Inman III and Tamara (Richard) Waxler Sr., all of New Brighton. He was the loving Pap to Joshua (Michelle) and Justin McCanna, Jeremy and Jessica Inman and Richard Jr. and Adam Waxler. He is also survived by three brothers Richard (Eleanor) McCanna, New Brighton, Mark McCanna, Rogers, OH, Joel (Lee) McCanna, Laurenburg, NC, four sisters Joy Leech, Pittsburgh, Kathy (Lou) Hickman, Katy, TX, Vicki Parada, Oakmont, PA, Robin (Ralph) Bohon, New Brighton and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 in the Concord United Methodist Church, 285 Concord Church Rd. Beaver Falls. Friends will be received Tuesday from 10:00am until time of funeral service at 11:00am in the church with the Rev. John Phipps officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Good Samaritan Hospice and Health South for the kind and passionate care that was extended to Bill.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Meals on Wheels in Beaver Falls.
