Ann K. Pozgay

Ann (Koricansky) Pozgay, 95, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2013 at her home in Boardman, OH.

She is reunited with those who have gone before her: her husband, Frank, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage; her parents, Maria and Stephan Koricansky; infant brother and sister, John and Mary; brothers, Steve Koricansky, Jr., John Koricansky and Joe Korcan; sister, Cecelia (Toots) Wright; nephew, Kevin Wright; niece, Delores Koricansky, and grand-nephew, Philip Farinacci. She leaves her brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Kate Korcan; cousin, John Vasko; sister-in-law, Barbara Safarek; and a host of nieces and nephews to mourn her loss and celebrate the gift of her presence in their lives.

Ann was born in New Brighton, PA, on April 15, 1917. She was an industrious and eager participant in life, and a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, wife, and friend. Ann often sacrificed her own interests for those of family and friends - a trend begun when she left the family home during The Great Depression to earn wages to send home as she worked as an au pair and later as a part of the wait staff at a Catskills Mountains resort. She retired in 1981 from her management position after over 40 years of service to Pennsylvania Bell and Ohio Bell and moved with Frank to homes in the Tampa, FL area for several years before they returned to Boardman. She was a parishioner of several parishes throughout her life, including St. Luke and St. Charles in Boardman. Family, duty, and integrity were paramount to Ann yet she always had a quick laugh and reveled in a good time, often as hostess to large family gatherings at her home and organizer of myriad social events for her coworkers and friends. She was an avid card player and member of her Card Club for many years, enjoyed attending and watching professional football and baseball games, and travelled extensively with Frank. She was an extraordinary baker; her wedding cakes and innumerable cookie creations were a marvel. Ann was tireless, generous, and always ready to lend a hand and open her door. 'Til we meet again, (T)annie
