Barbara Ann (Darkey) Portka

Barbara A. (Darkey) Portka Beaver Falls Barbara A. (Darkey) Portka, 80, of Beaver Falls, passed away Saturday July 7, 2018, at Good Samaritan Hospice Beaver. Born October 15, 1937, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Alva N. and Elizabeth (Wolfe) Darkey. She worked in sales for the former Kaufmanns department store. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Portka Jr. in 1985. Surviving are her children, daughter, Karen Stewart, New Brighton; son, Gary (Debbie) Portka, Waldorf, Md.; daughter, Lori (Jay) Mangicaro, Asheville, N.C.; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert E. (Janet) Darkey, Ross Twp.; a brother-in-law, Edward J. (Linda) Portka, Fayetteville, Ga.; and several nieces, nephews and their families. There will be no viewing. A memorial visitation will be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, until time of memorial service at 1 p.m. with her grandson, the Rev. Alan Gloor officiating Private inurnment will take place in Allegheny Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wish memorials be made in her name to your favorite charity. []
