Barbara L. (Spratley) Spooner Shultz

Barbara L. (Spratley) Spooner Shultz, 70, of New Brighton, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014 at Heritage Valley Beaver.

Born July 15, 1943 in Rochester, a daughter of the late Joseph Sr. and Evelyn (Graham) Spratley, she retired from the Rochester Owl's were she had been a bartender for many years. She was a member of the Owl's, the Rochester V.F.W and a former member of the Turners and Elks of Rochester. Barb enjoyed being with her family, bingo and playing pool.

Surviving are her husband, Paul A. Shultz; her seven children: Butch Spooner, Center Twp.; Barbara (Tom) Weller, Ellwood City; Eleanor (John McAllister) Lively, Pittsburgh; Joseph (Melissa) Spooner, New Brighton; Michael (Donna) Spooner, Melbourne, FL; William (Char Monac) Spooner, New Brighton; Mark (Tammy) Spooner, New Brighton; Paul's children: Mandy (Heath) Fox, North Sewickley Twp.; Hope (Ryan) Young, North Sewickley Twp.; Crystal Shultz, Gibsonia; 24 grandchildren, Shawn Spooner, Theresa (Dan) Norton, Christine Weller, Tommy Weller, Josh (Alesha Ebersberger) Livley, Amanda (Rich Hudock) Livley, Keagan Spooner, Riley Spooner, Holden Spooner, Tyler DiFrancesco, Jamie (Samantha Worst) Meskow, Chris (Erin Gabos) Monac, Mark (Elena) Greene, Keirstin Spooner, Brant Spooner, Chase Spooner, Austin Spooner, Ashley Spooner, Asa Spooner, Logan Fox, Austin Young, Connie Young, and  Allysia Young; six great-grandchildren, Dana Jr., Brayden, Adelynn, Emma, Aerianna, Christopher, and Jaylah; three brothers, Joseph (Elizabeth) Spratley Jr., Hopewell; Robert (Joanne) Spratley, Freedom; Albert (Nancy) Spratley Rochester Twp.; three sisters, Maryann (Pete) Zarilla, Rochester; Gloria (Frank Ross) Morehouse, Rochester; Sylvia Sanner, Beaver Falls; four sisters-in-law, Penny (Chuck) Quinn, Ruth Frazze, Evelyn (Joe Kline) Scheiwberg, Susan Spooner and her daughter, Laurie Spooner; many nieces, nephews and their families.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Butch "Pappy" Spooner; five sisters, Isadora Spratley, Marion Vogel, Betty Corrigan, Evelyn Gussenhofen and Edith Davidson.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and  6 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Donald W. MacNeil officiating.

Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.
