Charles "Lunk" Marecic, Jr.

Charles Marecic, Jr., 86, of New Brighton, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023, after a month-long illness.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Peggy (Lutz) Marecic. They were rarely separated over all of those years as they raised their family.

Born July 23, 1936, in New Brighton, he is the son of the late Charles and Anna (Kozlovac) Marecic, Sr. Charles was a graduate of New Brighton High School, then attended Robert Morris where he received his Associate Degree in Business/Accounting. After his discharge from The United States Marine Corp, he worked for 35 years as a group leader at Westinghouse. Charles was a member of the United Croatian Club, New Brighton, enjoyed playing poker with his friends, bowling and watching the Steelers.

He is also survived by his four children, Patrick Marecic and his fiancé, Courtney Brown, Kansas, Chris (Mara) Marecic, New Brighton, Michelle (Tom) Woods, Ohioville, Lynda (Andrew) Leckie, Florida; nine grandchildren; two cousins, Joe (Maryann) Marecic and Mike (Cheryl) Marecic.

Friends will be received Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 until 6:45 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. in J & J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Ave, New Brighton.  Pastor Chuck Jewell, officiating.

Cremation will follow after the services.
