Dane Reed Mathesius, 18, of New Sewickley Twp., passed away unexpectedly Thursday September 29, 2016.
Born June 19, 1998 in Brighton Twp. a son of Daleen Patsiga, New Sewickley Twp., and Martin E. Mathesius, Brighton Twp. He just began attending C.C.B.C. studying in the math field and graduated from Freedom High School in June. At Freedom he was on the Swim Team, Cross Country Team and played in the Freedom Marching Band. He was an accomplished pianist and taught himself how to play guitar. He enjoyed snow skiing, hiking, biking and catch & release fishing. He also liked spending time with his dad at Fredericktown, Oho.
Surviving in addition to his mother and father are one brother and his wife Lucas and Amber Gilbert, New Sewickley Twp., uncles Gerald and Joseph Patsiga, Tony (Wilma) Schiebel, Karl (Fran) Mathesius, aunts Patricia (John) Iacovino, Valarie Patsiga, Lori (Kevin) Pail, Lynn (Scott) Mooney, Marsha Jagodich, Peggy (Michael) DiNardo and Amy Mathesius, 19 cousins and his grandfather figure Tex Reutter.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Joseph and Dora Patsiga, paternal grandparents Walther and Katherine Mathesius and one uncle Walther Mathesius III.
There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends Monday October 10, 2016 from 1:00pm until time of memorial Mass of Christian burial at 2:00pm in the Holy Family Catholic Church, 525 7th Avenue, New Brighton with the Rev. Fr. Tom Kredel officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family wish memorials be made in Dane’s name to your favorite charity.
