David Benjamin 'Ben' Hardesty

David Benjamin "Ben" Hardesty, 77, of Beaver, formerly of New Brighton, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Heritage Valley Beaver.

Born June 14, 1935, in New Brighton, a son of the late Eugene and Anne (Couch) Hardesty. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1957 to 1959. He retired as superintendent from Ceramic Color and Chemical of New Brighton, and after retirement, he had worked for Express Meds and National Network of Digital Schools. However, he had begun his career at the former Mayer China many years ago. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Chippewa Twp., the Oak Hill Vets, F.O.E. No. 1342 and American Legion Post No. 19, all of New Brighton. Ben had a  passion for his golf leagues, especially the  Getaway Golf League, for many years.

Surviving are his beloved family: his wife of 20 years, Chrislyn (Cepull) Hardesty; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Michele Hardesty, New Brighton; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Sandra J. and Bob LaMar, Coraopolis; Michele Young, Seattle, WA; Chrislyn and Neal Mowery, New Brighton; Roxanne Naper (Tim Sye), Enon Valley; 13 grandchildren, Ryan (Melissa) Hardesty, Anya LaMar, Ryan and Nicole White, Aidan Tyson and Andreas Brown, Hannah, Kendal and Nathan Mowery, Jeffrey, Jacob and Joel Naper and Ryder Sye; one brother and sister-in-law, Gaylord and Marian Hardesty, Poway, CA, many nieces, nephews and their families.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and her husband, Beth and Reggie Anderson.

Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com,with the Rev. Eric D. Ash, officiating.

Inurnment will take place later in Beaver Cemetery.
