Dennis E. Mooney, 74, of New Brighton, passed away Thurday, September 15, 2022, at his home in Greensburg.

Born February 22, 1948, in New Brighton, he was a son of the late Emerson “Dink” Mooney and Shirley (Ziegle) Pritchard.  He was a retired teacher, counselor, and principal, who loved educating people of all walks of life.  He was a “human calculator” who knew sports statistics.  Known to be a great wood craftsman, he was a simple man, who loved sports, politics, animals, and most importantly his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 plus 3 years, Patricia (Paxton) Mooney, sons, Dennis Mooney Jr., and Tony (Lisa) Paxton, daughter, Tiffany Mooney, sister, Sherryl Mooney, brother, Emerson Mooney, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Susie Mooney, and brother, C. Patrick Mooney.

Friends will be received Monday, from 4pm until the time of service at 6pm, in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 3rd Ave., New Brighton, with Pastor Donald MacNeil officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in his name to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the American Cancer Society.
