Dorothy (Swasta) Cardosi, 81, of New Brighton, passed away peacefully at her home with her family at her side on Saturday, March 16, 2013.

Born April 3, 1931, in New Brighton, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Bross) Swasta. A dedicated wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and the Holy Family Christian Mothers in New Brighton. Our mother gave so much of herself and asked for so little in return and she will be missed by all the people whose lives she touched.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Samuel J. Cardosi; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory and Tammy Cardosi, Beaver Falls and Robert and Kelley Cardosi, New Brighton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Jim Goda, Charlotte, NC; Nancy and Scott Sheets and Janet and Brent Smith, both of New Brighton; ten grandchildren, Leslianne, Joshua, Vincent, Tyler, Jessica, Ryan, Cody, Sydney, Andrew and Sammy, two great-grandchildren, Alexa and Ali Jade; three sisters  and two brothers-in-law, Cecilia and David Kellogg, New Galilee; Catherine Bobin, New Brighton and Mary Ann and Edward Harding, New Brighton; one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Leslie Swasta, Center Twp., many nieces, nephews and their families.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Anthony Bobin and a niece, Debbie Harding.

Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, where prayer will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in the Holy Family Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Tom Kredel officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, New Brighton.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask memorials be made in her name to the St. Joseph Cemetery Fund, c/o  1851 Third Avenue, New Brighton, PA 15066.
