Edith May (Blinn) Miller

October 30, 1919 — February 25, 2015

Edith (Blinn) May Miller, 95, of North Sewickley Twp., passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver.

Born October 30, 1919 in Marion Twp., she was a daughter of the late William and Annie (Voglar) Blinn. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she was a member of Concord United Methodist Church and the owner of the former May's Greenhouse, both in North Sewickley Twp. She had been a leader for both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and was an accomplished seamstress and quilter. She loved gardening, cooking, crocheting and was famous for her pies and cookies.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William D. May, July 1978; a brother, Ernest Blinn; two sisters, Ethel Waldron and Florence Staneart Knepp; a granddaughter, Amy Jo Pflugh and great-grandson, Gavin Thurnher.

Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Lysle F. 'Fritz' Miller; two sons, William A. May, Warrenton, VA; Tom (Dawn) May, Daugherty Twp.; two daughters, JoAnn (Richard) Serge, Koppel; Janet (Darrell) Copeland, Phoenix AZ; Lysle's children, Lysle (Carol) Miller Jr., Daugherty Twp.; Carole Miller, Ashville, NC; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, their families and friends.

Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com. On Saturday, friends will be received at Concord United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bradley K. Neel officiating.

Interment will take place in Concord Church Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice for the wonderful care of their loved one.
