Edward M. Yorns, Sr., 77, of New Brighton, Pa., passed away peacefully Sunday, December 17, 2017, with his loving family by his side at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver.

Born December 19, 1939, in New Brighton, he was the son of the late Edward P. and Arlene (Kirschner) Yorns. Ed was a 1957 graduate of New Brighton High School. He was owner and operator of Zirat Auto Electric for 45 years and Yorns Auto Sales for 15 years, past president of the New Brighton Baseball Association and was a coach for New Brighton minor, little and pony league baseball. He was one of the original founders of the Rev Masters car club and was a legendary drag racer and turner. An accomplished bowler in the area, he had the opportunity to bowl on the tv show “Bowling for Dollars.” Ed was a member of the New Brighton S.O.I., Oak Hill Vets and Rochester Elks. He was always there for his children during their sporting events and was a cheerleader Dad for all of them.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, JoAnn (Steiner) Yorns; three children and their spouses, Sherri (Brad) Kelly, Cranberry Twp.; Kelly (Steve) Jonas, Sanger, Texas, and Eddie (Michelle) Yorns Jr.; New Brighton; six grandchildren, Audra and Jordan Kelly, Stephen and Rachel Jonas, Little Eddie and Andy Yorns; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Bill (Eileen) Yorns, Connecticut, and Rick Yorns, Beaver Falls; a sister and brother-in-law, Jayne (Dave) Yhelka, Darlington; sister-in-law, Rose Marie Berrill, and several nieces, nephews and their families. A special thanks to Shelby Resch for her compassion and love.

Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com. Prayers will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Holy Family Parish, New Brighton, with Father Tom Kredel officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, New Brighton.

The family would like to thank the nurses on the 3rd floor Cardio/Pulmonary Unit of Heritage Valley for their compassion and going above and beyond their required duties.
