Edward Lee McElvy, age 71, of Ambridge, passed away Friday, August 19, 2016, due to natural causes. He was the second of ten children born, April 20, 1945, to the late Bessie Mae McElvy and the late Elmer McElvy, Sr.
Edward entered the armed services of the Army and served two tours in Vietnam, proudly fighting for his country. Edward
retired from BCTA as a bus driver.
Edward was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Mae McElvy in March, 1996; his nephews, Eddie Humphries, Jr., in August, 1999 and William A. "Little Bill" in December, 2008, and his father, Elmer McElvy, Sr., in April, 2008.
He leaves to cherish his memory four brothers, John (Opal) W. McElvy, Bainbridge, Georgia; Elmer (Valerie) McElvy, New Brighton, PA; Boyd McElvy, Aliquippa, PA, and Leonard McElvy Ambridge, PA; five sisters, Mildred (Rev. Eddie) Humphries, Sr., Houston, Texas; Merinda Valentine, Rochester, PA; Runnette (John) Hosey, Rochester Township, PA; Leonora McElvy, Washington, PA, and Barbara McElvy, Moon Township, PA; a very special friend, Juanita Cox, Beaver Falls, PA, and
numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Friends will be received Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:30 a.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, with the Rev. Tawan Bailey officiating.
Inurnment will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Washington, PA at a later date.
