Elva Jean (Braun) Snowden, 85, of New Brighton, passed away suddenly Sunday, December 29, 2013, at Heritage Valley, Beaver.

Born November 17, 1928, in New Brighton, a daughter of the late Louis and Elva (Butler) Braun, she was a graduate of New Brighton High School, Class of 1946 and was a member of the New Brighton United Methodist Church. She had been a member of the Wenonah Chapter #124 of the Order of Eastern Star and was a past matron of the former Chapter #183 of New Brighton O.E. S. She was also a past president of the New Brighton Football Mothers and enjoyed watching Pittsburgh sporting events.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Snowden, September of 1996 and a sister, Charlotte Marie Braun Book in July of 1973.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Ruby Snowden, Tulsa, OK and Richard and Kathleen Snowden, New Brighton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Daniel Whalen, New Brighton and Patricia and Ron Reagle, Ellwood City; nine grandchildren, Bobby Snowden, Erica (Ryan) Wilson, Matthew Snowden, Ben Snowden, MM2 Brian Snowden, Erik Snowden, Travis Whalen, Taylor Whalen and Zachary Whalen; two step-grandchildren, Amber Gipson and Joshua Lemmons; two great-grandchildren, Naploean Wilson and Amelia Wilson and four step-great-grandchildren, Caleb Lemmons, Lucy Lemmons, Damon Gipson and Violet Gipson.

Friends will be received Thursday, January 2, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, where funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with her pastor, the Rev. Tracy Cox, officiating.

Private interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.
