Evelyn N. (Dewhirst) Young

Evelyn N. Young, 99, of New Sewickley Township, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Creek Meadows Nursing Home, Zelienople.
Born October 7, 1911, in New Brighton, she was the daughter of the late John and Bertha (Rauscher) Dewhirst. Evelyn was a member of the St. John's Burry's Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin P. Young, in 1988, four brothers, four sisters, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Surviving are eight children and their spouses, Robert B. and Marcella Young, Donald P. and Gladys Young, and Alice J. Davis, all of New Sewickley Township; Richard A. and Margaret Young, and Eleanor J. Hicks, all of Daugherty Township; Walter H. and Carol Young, East Rochester; David W. and Bonnie Young, Chippewa Township, and John H. and Marlene Young, Ellamore, West Virginia; one sister, Ruth Krachinsky, New Brighton; 31 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; 42 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and their families.
Friends will be received Friday from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton . Evelyn will lie in state at St. John's Burry's Church, New Sewickley Township, on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Richard Raines will officiate.
Interment will follow in St. John's Burry's Church Cemetery.
