Florence (Thompson) Cater, 92, of North Sewickley Twp., passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Lakeview Personal Care in Darlington.

Born April 20, 1920, in New Brighton, a daughter of the late Howard and Hazel (McNeese) Thompson, she was retired from the former Westinghouse Electric Corp. of Vanport with 26 years of service. Florence was a life long member of the Church of the Nazarene of New Brighton, where she was a former church board member, past president of Young People, Sunday School teacher for many years and played piano and organ for 67 years. She was a member of the Retired Ladies of Westinghouse, a former Girl Scout leader and past president of the P.T.A.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Cater, on October 21, 2002, and a sister, Ida Mae Ours.

Surviving are one son, Chester C. Cater, North Sewickley Twp.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Sal Randazzo, Dunkirk, NY, and Carol and Henry Stiffler, Chippewa Twp.; five grandchildren and their spouse, Charlene (Lou) Gehrig, James (Kara) Stiffler, Samuel (Nancy) Stiffler, Susan (John) Old Elk and Robert (Jen) Stiffler; four great-grandchildren, and twin great-granddaughters expected in February.

Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Donald W. MacNeil officiating.

Private entombment will take place Williamsburg Mausoleum, Chippewa Twp.
