Frank J. Greco, 76, of New Brighton, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh after a brief illness.
Born March 16, 1939 in New York City, New York, a son of the late Dominic and Florence (Muoio) Greco. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving 1959 to 1961 during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He had worked for B&W Tubular Steel for 32 years and retired from Koppel Steel with 12 years. He was a graduate of New Brighton High School in 1956 and received a degree in accounting from Geneva College in 1973. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church where he was an usher and had taught 7th Grade CCD at the former St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a past president of the Serra Club and a member of American Legion, Post #19, New Brighton.
Frank was loved and appreciated by all who knew him. He supported numerous causes and charity efforts. His passion for cooking was valued by many, including Fr. Tom Kredel every Wednesday.
Surviving are his wife, Margie A. (Greco) Greco, whom he married April 8, 1961; one son, Frank J. Greco Jr. and his fiancée Renee Phillips, New Brighton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie and John Perock, Cranberry Twp., and Julie and Kenneth Goehring, New Brighton; eight grandchildren, Dominic Greco, Gina Greco, Salvatore Greco, Jozef Perock, Ava Perock, Austin Goehring, Jesse Goehring, and Matthew Van Kirk; one brother, James (Joanna) Greco, Longs, SC; three sisters, Rosemary (Ron) Bellan, Patterson Heights; Maryanne (Ron) Barr, Longs, SC and Teresa (Dan) Carosi, West Mayfield, and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Betty Greco.
Friends will be received Saturday from 6 to 8 pm and Sunday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, where prayer will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Tom Kredel officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, New Brighton.
Members of the Beaver County Special Unit will meet at 10:45 a.m. Monday in the cemetery to provide military honors.
