Frank P. Matotek Patterson Heights Frank P. Matotek, beloved husband of the late Edith Chaney Matotek and son of the late Raymond and Emilia Matotek, passed away on August 9, 2018, at Morningside in the West End Assisted Living in Richmond, Va.  He was 95 years old. Born and raised in New Brighton, Pa., Frank was a resident of Patterson Heights for 63 years.  He worked in the East Works of Babcock & Wilcox for 30 years, retiring in 1983.  He served in the Army during World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.  Frank was an avid bowler for over 60 years. He bowled with the Rochester Turners League, B&W Bowling League, Retirement Men's Bowling League and the Mixed Couple League.  For many years, Frank had been an active member of the Patterson Heights Volunteer Fire Department having served as Fire Chief and then Assistant Fire Chief. He was a member of St. Monica Parish, Chippewa Twp. In addition to his wife and parents, Frank was also pre-deceased by a daughter, Linda Wirkner; son, Raymond Matotek; granddaughter, Tracey Operhall and three brothers, Peter, Stephen and Louis Matotek. Frank is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Louis) Operhall, Glen Allen, Va.; Joanne (Ronald) Dickey, Pearland, Texas; son-in-law, James Wirkner, Yorktown, Va.; daughter-in-law, Nancy Matotek, Lexington, S.C.; four grandchildren, Michael Wirkner, Key West, Fla.; Michelle (Julia) Wirkner, Franklin, Pa.; Joseph (Ana) Operhall, Philadelphia, Pa., and Taylor Dickey, Pearland, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Aaron Operhall, Philadelphia, Pa.; one brother, John (Theresa) Matotek, Beaver Falls, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Wednesday, August 15, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com.  Prayers will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Monica Parish, Chippewa Twp. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Beaver Falls. The Beaver County Special Unit will meet Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery, Beaver Falls, to provide full military honors. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Morningside in the West End in Richmond, Va. and the James River Hospice for their dedication, compassionate care and love during his stay there. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in memory of Frank, to the Alzheimer's Association of America, 322 8th Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, New York 10001.
