Frederick James Lewis
Frederick James Lewis, 63, of New Brighton. We lost a very special man on Friday, November 4, 2016, at ER of Heritage Valley Beaver.
Born October 27, 1953, in Rochester, a son of the late Walter C. and Katherine (Krohne) Lewis. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the Beaver Assembly of God. Fred was kind, patient, gentle and loving yet quiet, quick to act and consistently strong throughout his entire life. He was a man's man, loved with his whole heart and had an unwavering faith. He believed in living life honestly and simply. He seemed happiest when he was with his boys, his grandchildren, his other special family members and friends. Fred loved animals, all things Pittsburgh (Steelers, Pirates, Penguins), the World Wrestling Federation, hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles and quads (which he dreamed of owning; he may be riding in Heaven as we speak!)
Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Margaret (Webster) Lewis; two sons, David Frederick (Allison) Lewis Sr., Newark, Ohio, and Jonathan David Lewis, Ft. Collins, Colo.; four grandchildren, Maaliq, Abigal, David Jr. and Daxton; eight sisters, Mary (Galen) Nichols, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Teresa (Gary) White, Bryan, Texas; Agnes (Dane) Aveard, Cranberry; Dolores (Buddy) Gray, Georgetown; Clara (Tim) Scherer, Rochester; Cecelia (Gary) Friday, Chippewa; Rose (Mike) Hunter, Negley, Ohio, and Roberta (Will) Murdick, Butler, and many nieces, nephews and their families.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia (Lewis) Weese and a brother, Tommy, at a young age.
There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com. Wednesday a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. in the Beaver Assembly of God, 500 Dutch Ridge Rd., Beaver, with the Rev. Tim Michaux officiating.
The family wishes to thank all of the medical staff, clergy, friends and relatives who have been so helpful in the past year. Heritage Valley Drs. M. Prendergast, C. Feldmeir, K. House, S. Weber and cardiac specialist Dr. David LoSorda, who were all very professional, kind and informative. Fred really liked his Concordia nurses Jessica and Gina. Margaret also wishes to thank all who prayed and ministered to them.
God, our Creator, Savior, Friend who is all knowing, all seeing and all powerful has it ALL taken care and we trust that Fred rests happily in his heavenly home.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made in his name in care of the funeral home.
