Gracia Larue (Jones) Mcgowan

Gracia LaRue (Jones) McGowan, 89, of New Brighton, passed away suddenly Sunday March 12, 2017 at her home.
Born April 15, 1928 in Winterset, OH a daughter of the late Harry C, and Nettie May (Wells) Jones. LaRue was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, New Brighton, and had been secretary for the former St. Jospeh Cafeteria Ladies. She was also very involved B.P.O.E. # 283 in Rochester with former Ladies Auxiliary and bowling league, in 2014 she received the Elks Distinguished Citizenship Award for her service. She was also a member of the Rochester V.F.W. where she was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband George C. McGowan, 1985, two sons William G. McGowan, 1892 and John L. McGowan, 2007 and her brother and sisters.
Surviving are one son James R. McGowan, at home, three sisters Mary Ann McGowan, at home, Joan M. and Kirby Hansley, Hamsted, NC, Patricia J. and Paul Dodson, Stevensville, MD, one granddaughter Mary Geneva and husband Dominick Curigliano, New Castle, one grandson Andrew Dodson, Stevensville, MD, several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Avenue, New Brighton, where prayer will be held Thursday at 9:30am followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am in the Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Tom Kredel officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, New Brighton.
