Harold R. Humbert Jr., 83, of New Brighton, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 28, 2016, at his home.
Born November 19, 1932, in Rochester, a son of the late Harold R. and Margaret (Vogt) Humbert. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Army and was retired from the former Zinc Corporation where he was foreman in the power plant. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Rochester, the Knights of Columbus, #2194, and had received the Fr. Marcus O'Brien Award along with his wife for volunteer work done at the church. He had served many years as a midget football booster for New Brighton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise (Helbling) Humbert in 2010 and his step-mother, Kate (Barnhart) Humbert.
Surviving are his children; daughter, Luanne Connolly, who resided with him; five sons, Lee Humbert, North Sewickley Twp.; Harold Humbert III, New Galilee; James (Debora) Humbert, Baden; Scott (Kimberly) Humbert, Connellsville, and Brian Humbert, N. Andover, MA; three grandchildren, Mary Boyer, Matthew and Abigail Humbert; one sister, Katherine Catanzarite, Rochester; two brothers, Harry (Beverly) Humbert, Vanport, and Rich (Mary) Mennell, Aliquippa, many nieces, nephews and their families and next door neighbor friends, John and Johnetta Francona.
Friends will be received Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, where prayer will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Rochester, with Rev. Fr. John Geinzer officiating.
Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.
Members of Beaver County Special Unit will meet Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the cemetery to provide military honors.
