Hersel R. "Hop" Keister

Hersel "Hop" Robert Keister, 95, of West Mayfield, passed away Tuesday evening, January 15, 2013, just two days before his 96th birthday.
He was born January 17, 1917, in Butler, PA. Hersel was a veteran of World War II where he was honorably discharged and awarded a Purple Heart and additional medals for his service abroad. He retired in 1979 from Westinghouse after 30 years of employment.
Hersel leaves behind his loving wife of 74 years, Carolina Keister; a daughter and four sons, Loretta Malack and her husband, Joseph, South Beaver Twp.; Carl Keister, Santa Monica, CA; Robert and Sereta Keister, West Mayfield; Harold Keister and companion Linda Ierace, Patterson Township, and Dale Keister, Austintown OH; a sister and her husband, Madeline and Stanley Hutchison, Bakersfield, CA; grandchildren, Joyce and Robert Strickler, South Beaver Twp.; Richard and Janet Malack, Beaver Falls; Dana and Ben Hanna, Front Royal, VA; Tara and Mickey Pranskey, Chippewa Twp., and Christian Keister and companion, Lori Trayter, Pittsburgh, and several great and great-great-grandchildren. Hersel also leaves behind a very special friend, Robert Salvadori.
Per Hersel's wishes, there was no public visitation.
