James A. Barr, 84, of New Brighton, passed away Friday December 2, 2016 at Katera’s Kove.
Born May 8, 1932 in New Brighton a son of the late James and Wilda (Weigle) Barr. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the U.S. Army and retired from Ceramic Color & Chemical in New Brighton where he worked as a millwright. Jim was always very active and enjoyed bicycling and canoeing.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley A. Barr, August 8, 2008 and his brother Raymond Barr in 1971.
Surviving are one son Robert (Heather) Barr, one daughter Beth Ann (Larry) Kachinski, all of New Brighton, four grandchildren Heath, Angel and Caylee Barr and Chris Kachinski, three great grandchildren Cecilia, Caterina and Eva, five brothers John (Lorraine) Barr, Alamorgorda, NM, Emerson Barr, Patterson Twp., Chuck Barr, Ohio, Don (Linda) Barr, Casa Grande, AZ, Ron (Mary Anne) Barr, Longs, SC, one sister Wilda (Larry) McDaniel, New Brighton, many nieces, nephews and their families.
Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Avenue, New Brighton, where funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00am with the Rev. Donald W. MacNeil officiating.
Private interment will take place in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.
Members of the Beaver County Special Unit will meet Tuesday at 11:00am at the funeral home to provide military honors.
