James C. Deane, 93, of New Brighton, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 29, 2023.
Born September 7, 1930, in Grosse Point, MI, he is the son of the late James T. and Mildred Ann (Gailliot) Deane. He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley, Holy Family parish. He was a 1948 graduate of Butler high-school. Upon graduating he enlisted in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked in the steel mills, retired from LTV as a foreman, and worked as a security guard for the Shippingport nuclear power plant. He was a founding member of the Oak Hill Vets where he was a trustee. He was an avid golfer and golfed in the New Brighton Croatian Club and he also bowled for the New Brighton SOI league. He enjoyed reading, puzzles, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a proud Eagle Scout, and his membership card was signed by Franklin D. Roosevelt, Honorary President. Jim was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son James C. Deane Jr.; sister and her husband, Eileen and Ronald Meier, his brothers, Robert, Dennis and Timothy Deane, sister-in-law Donna Deane, son-in-laws, William See, and Michael Wayne Ceratti.
Surviving is his loving wife of 70 years, Patricia (Gallagher) Deane; children, Cathleen (Ronald) Wink, Colleen Deane, Christeen Ceratti, Timothy M. (Christina) Deane, grandchildren, Christopher Wink, Robert Deane, Sam Deane, Patrick Ceratti (Jenna), T.J. Ceratti, Ellie Deane, and Andrew Deane, great grandchildren, Cayden, Jameson, and Adilynne; daughter-in-law, Kelley Deane; sister-in-law; June Deane, numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Friends will be received Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in J & J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Ave, New Brighton. Prayers will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Valley, Holy Family Parish, New Brighton.
Beaver County Special Unit will provide full military honors Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Cemetery, New Brighton.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, New Brighton.
