James V. Scialabba

James Vincent Scialabba, 72, of New Brighton, passed away Wednesday, October, 2, 2019 at UPMC Shadyside.

Born July 23, 1947, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Jack Frank and Rita May (Kimbel) Scialabba.  Jim retired from the US Air Force after 34 years of service, before a career as a civilian for the US Army, at Charles E. Kelly support unit in Oakdale.  He was heavily involved in various organizations.  With the Boy Scouts he was a Silver Beaver Recipient, obtained the district Award of Merit, the Scoutmaster award and the Order of the Arrow.  He received an Appreciation pin and Thanks badge from the Girl Scouts.  He was a Knights of Columbus #604- 4th degree, and President of Union AFGE Local 2495. Through St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, he had an Appreciation Award, Beaver County Deanery Holy Society Man of the Year Award; the Father of Marcus O’Brien Service Award from Catholic Charities Dioceses of Pittsburgh.  He coached soccer and basketball for the Beaver County Special Olympics.  As well as Charles E. Kelly Support Facility Community Service Award, presented at the Excellence in Government Awards Program.

He is survived by his wife Ruth (Allue), sons, James C. Scialabba, Beaver, Robert Hess, New Brighton, Naeem Davis, New York City, Tyree James Scialabba, Cranberry, Vincent James Scialabba, Warren, OH, Anthony Allue Scialabba, New Brighton, Israel Jack Scialabba, New Brighton; daughters, MaryBeth Scialabba, Patterson, Shiana Scialabba, Beaver Falls, Tara Busato, Jeanette, Marquesia Scialabba, Patterson, Jacquie Scialabba, Washington, Christian Kennedy, Chattanooga, TN, Elizabeth Scialabba, New Brighton; grandchildren, Kayleigh Scialabba-Meehan, Lakyn Scialabba, Navoanna Lash, John Busato IV, Luna Rowenna Rain Scialabba, Dom Busato, Jeffrey Lash; sister Lucia Jones, Patterson.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by sisters Donna Mae Wolff and Judy Scialabba.

Friends will be received Sunday from 1-6pm followed by a time of reflection until 7pm in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 3rd Ave. New Brighton, where prayers will be held at 9:30am followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10am, in Holy Family Catholic Church, New Brighton.

Beaver County Special Unit will meet at 10:30 Monday at St. Joseph’s Cemetery to provide full military honors.
