Janey (Daniels) Drogus
Ellwood City
Janey Drogus, 90 of Ellwood City, formerly of North Sewickley Twp., passed away peacefully on Friday morning, April 10, 2015.
Born September 26, 1924 in New Brighton, PA, she was the daughter of Romanian immigrants, the late George Daniels and Marie Dolgae Daniels. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Gene Drogus.
Janey was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School and an active organizer of many class reunions. She retired from Riverside Middle School in 1990 were she truly enjoyed her career as a secretary. She served her community as an elected Township Tax Auditor, a Cub Scout Leader and countless volunteer leadership roles with Concord Church's United Methodist Women, and the Growing Wise Sunday School class. She was the area co-chair of countywide United Way fund drives, as well as a 'teacher, friend and mentor' to her neighborhood 'family' of friends.
An excellent cook, she combined her talent for arts and crafts and created delicious birthday and wedding cakes for those she loved. Sewing beautiful dresses, quilting together keepsake fabrics, and making afghans throughout her life, Janey never stopped enjoying her 'crafty' side. Recently she kept busy working on 'orders' for beautifully crocheted scarves, or helping with the creation of squares for an afghan that is going to be auctioned off for charity. Lunching and shopping with family and friends were some of Janey's favorite pastimes and she never stopped enjoying them. Serving the Lord through serving and loving on His people earned Janey the title of 'friend' to hundreds of people locally, regionally and throughout the country.
Stoic, beautiful, kind and giving were traits that she'll be remembered for.
