John A. DeMaria, 90, of Fallston passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Heritage Valley Beaver.

He was born on September 4, 1926 in Beaver Falls a son of the late Joseph and Terese (Mandarino) DeMaria. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army and retired from the former Westinghouse where he worked in the storeroom. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post #19 and the S.O.I. both of New Brighton.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marie (Saibena) DeMaria in 2014, his son James A. DeMaria in 2013, four sisters and three brothers-in-law Florence DeMaria, Rose and Frank Ruffalo, Emma and Anthony Molinaro and Florine and William McQuade, two brothers and one sister-in-law Earl and Dell DeMaria and Angelo DeMaria and a niece Diane DeMaria.

Surviving are two sons Jeffrey A. DeMaria, Charlotte, NC and John A. DeMaria, Gaithersburg, MD, three grandchildren Megan (Josh) Hogg, Jennifer DeMaria and Daniel DeMaria, a sister-in-law Helen DeMaria many nieces, nephews and their families.

Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 in the J&J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Avenue New Brighton, where prayer will be held Tuesday at 9:30am followed by Mass of Christian burial at 10:00am in the Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Tom Kredel officiating.

Private interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, New Brighton.

The family would like to thank everyone at Lakeview Personal Care Home where John had been residing since February of this year. He enjoyed the activities and friendships that he made over the last several months.

They would also like to thank the staffs of Presbyterian, Montefiore, Providence Care Center and in particular the emergency room staff of Heritage Valley Beaver.

In lieu of the flowers the family wish memorials be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E 201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 or a charity of their choice.
