John L. "Tom" Coast Jr., 72, of North Sewickley Twp., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 6, 2016. Affectionately known as Tom by family and friends, he resided at St. John's Lutheran Specialty Care Center in Mars, PA for the past two years.

Born May 17, 1943, in Beaver Falls, he was the son of the late John L. Coast, Sr. and Helen Howe Coast. John was a member of the first New Brighton Eagles Little League baseball team in 1953. He continued to play baseball through high school and was a starting player for his American Legion team. John was a graduate of New Brighton High School, Class of 1961, and attended Geneva College for three years. He was employed by Babcock and Wilcox working as a production scheduler for many years and concluded his work in the steel industry at Valley Steel Service, Rochester, PA. He was most recently a member of Monaca United Methodist Church but served as a Sunday School teacher, a trustee, PPR Chairperson, head usher and choir member at the former Grace United Methodist Church, New Brighton, PA.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 51 years, Norma J. Coast; three children, Elizabeth A. (Beth) Senior and her husband Lee of North Sewickley, Susan L. Herrmann and her husband Daniel of North Sewickley and Thomas H. Coast and his wife Dawn (Farzo) of New Brighton; and four grandchildren, Ian and Katherine Senior and Thomas (T.J.) and Sarah Belsterling.

Friends will be received Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Monaca United Methodist Church, 813 Indiana Ave., Monaca, and Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. in the church with the Rev. David Vaughn and the Rev. Dean Byrom officiating. (All visitation and services will be held at the church).

Private interment, with Rev. Douglass Myers officiating, will be in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Daugherty Township, on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to Monaca United Methodist Church, Unionville United Methodist Church, First Church of God, New Brighton, or the Alzheimer's Association, Pittsburgh Office, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
