Joseph G. Symmonds

Joseph G. Symmonds, 67, of New Brighton passed away peacefully, after a brief illness and went to be with his Lord surrounded by his loving family early Monday morning, October 3, 2011 at Heritage Valley Beaver.
Born August 7, 1944 in Beaver Falls, a son of the late George R. and Annarita (Wogan) Symmonds, he lived most of his life in New Brighton and was a faithful member of the Chippewa Evangelical Free Church.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Bonnie (Wood) Symmonds; his three children, Lori Symmonds, Kim Wohl and husband Geoff, and Dave Symmonds and wife Allison; his three grandchildren, Amber, Nicholas and Taylor, all of Beaver County; three stepchildren, Tammy and husband Mark Mallue, Toledo, Ohio; Tim and wife Mary Walters, Missouri, and Terry (Angie) Walters, Oregon, and three step-grandchildren, Tyler, Marissa and Madison.
After graduating from Beaver Falls High School, he worked several years at B&W as a welder. However, he soon left to pursue his true passion of working with cars. Joe spent his life doing what he loved most. He owned and operated his own auto sales business in New Brighton, Symmonds Auto Sales, and later Brighton Motors for over 40 years. He shared his love of cars with his son, Dave, who worked alongside him for many years. In 2008, he retired from the car business and enjoyed working on his houseboat and spending time with his wife, Bonnie, and his many close friends at New Brighton Marina.
Joe will be remembered by all who knew him as a man of extraordinary character, kindness and generosity. He never refused anyone in need. He was a loving, compassionate and patient friend, husband, and father. He will be deeply missed.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com , where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ed Walsh officiating.
Private interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.
