Kathryn "Katie" E. Bell

With a heavy heart we announce the passing of our beloved Kathryn E.  “Katie” Bell, whom passed on November 9, 2021 at Concordia, Villa St. Joseph.

Born September 14, 1925 in New Brighton, she is the daughter of the late Clifford and Bertha Shaffer.  Katie retired as a clerk for Sears, loved vacationing with her husband and friends, and going to the Casino.  She was a member of the New Brighton United Methodist Church and was a volunteer in the kitchen, and especially enjoyed the stuffed pork chop dinners.   Katie’s greatest joy in her later years was her Sunday outings with her great nephew and niece, Kevin and Trina Bolland and their children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Holman; second husband, Charles Bell; a step son, Dewayne “Bunky” McDanel, two sisters, Mary (Schramm) Bolland and Margaret “Tessie” Pflugh; niece Charlotte Pflugh.

Surviving is a step son, James McDanel; two daugters-in-laws; Joanne McDanel and Ruth Koloski; nephew, Donald (Maryann) Bolland; niece, Patty (Bob) Bonzo, and many loving step grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and their families.

Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in J & J Spratt Funeral Home, 1612 Third Ave, New Brighton. Additional viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.  Pastor Gary Hilton, officiating.

Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Daugherty Twp.

The family would like to thank the Nurse’s and aides at Concordia, Villa St. Joseph for the loving care they provided.
