Kenneth W. 'Kenny' Mattes
Kenneth W. "Kenny" Mattes, 62, of Fombell, passed away Friday, August 15, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Wexford.
Born March 2, 1952, in New Brighton, he was a son of William R. Mattes of Poland, Ohio, and Ella Mae (Barnhart) Mattes Javens, Brighton Twp. He was a graduate of New Brighton High School, Class of 1970, and graduated with a bachelor's degree from Penn State. He had worked at the former Crucible Steel plant in Midland, then was a deliveryman for Taylor Dairy and lastly a deliveryman for Batesville Casket Company. His passion in life was riding his Harley-Davidson most of all.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Meghan and her husband Andrew Madden, Beaver Falls; his son, Marcus Mattes, Ross Twp.; a sister, Karen Mattes Reese and her husband David Reese, Brighton, Twp.; two nephews, Dane and Colin Reese; one niece, Shannon Sacco Hanton and her husband Chuck Hanton; one great nephew, Chase Hanton; his stepmother, Margaret Mattes, Poland, OH; his stepfather, Norman Javens, Brighton Twp.; his loving companion, Sherry Szakelyhidi, Fombell; her sons, Jonathan and Alex Szakelyhidi, and his former wife, Christine A. Mattes, Beaver Falls.
Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 12 noon until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, with the Rev. Donald W. MacNeil officiating.
Cremation will take place after the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made in his name to Good Samaritan Hospice, 3500 Brooktree Rd., Wexford, PA 15090.
