Lynda (Hanway) Hamilton

Lynda (Hanway) Hamilton, 70, of North Sewickley Twp., passed away Friday, July 26, 2013, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born January 1, 1943, in Fairmont, WV, a daughter of the late James and Louise (Baker) Hanway, she had taught in the New Brighton Area Schools and then retired from teaching at the Portersville Christian School. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene of New Brighton where she had taught Sunday School, was involved in Children's Ministries and was a former youth leader.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Hamilton, on October 14, 2012, and a brother-in-law, Rev. Charles Hambel.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Jonell and Ron Raab, Beaver Falls; Missy and Doug Raab, New Brighton; six grandchildren, Sarah (Jeremy) Brown, Christina Raab, Joshua (Paige) Raab, Donovan Raab, Savanna Raab and Brandon Raab; six great-grandchildren, one sister, Lisa Hambel, Dormont; a brother-in-law and his wife, Roger and Sharon Hamilton, Spelter, WV; several nieces, nephews and their families.

Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com. On Monday, friends will be received at the Church of the Nazarene, 417 Penn Avenue, New Brighton, from 9 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Donald W. MacNeil, officiating.

Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in the Mt. Zion Cemetery and Mausoleum, Fairmont, WV.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made, in her name, to the Church of the Nazarene.
