Margaret E. McConnaughy
Margaret E. McConnaughy, 93, of Beaver, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2012 at her home.
Born October 28, 1919, in New Brighton, she was a daughter of the late William A. and Rosabelle (Morrison) Thompson. She graduated from New Brighton High School in 1937 and the former Beaver Valley General Hospital, School of Nursing in 1940. She was a veteran of World War II serving as a nurse with the U.S. Navy in Hawaii. Margaret then retired from The Medical Center, Beaver, in 1986. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church of New Brighton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton McConnaughy, in 1967; four sisters, Evelyn, Martha and Ruth Thompson, and Anna DeChico, and seven brothers, Harold, Ralph, Glenn, Elmer, Charles, Ross Sr. and William W. Thompson.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, William C. and Andrea McConnaughy, Canfield, OH; one daughter and son-in-law, Beth and James Kennedy, Albany, GA; four grandchildren, Patrick (Valerie) McConnaughy, Kara Pietrowski, James Kennedy Jr. and Jeffrey Kennedy; nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and their families.
There will be no viewing; however, friends will be received Thursday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 2:30 p.m. in the Free Methodist Church, 925 11th St., New Brighton, with Pastor Josh Mackenstein officiating.
Private interment will take place in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in her name to your favorite charity or church.
