Margaret M. "Peggie" Young, 73, of Daugherty Twp., passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012, at Heritage Valley Beaver.

Born May 14, 1939 in Rochester, she was a daughter of the late Alberta (Smith) Waxler. Peggie  was a dedicated wife and homemaker, raising her children and watching her grandchildren grow. She was heavily involved in band parents with her children during their high school years. She had also worked  for the Red Cross. She loved crocheting making afghans for all her children and was a member of St. John's (Burry's) United Evangelical Protestant Church, Rochester.

Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Richard A. Young; three sons, Earl and his wife Dorene McCaskey, Ambridge, and Daniel and Mark McCaskey, both of Daugherty Twp.; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Dave Polachek, Economy Boro; six grandchildren, J.R. Smith, Misty Smith, Matthew McCaskey, Jessica Young, her special one's, David and Abby  Polachek, whom she referred to them as Baby Man and Angel Girl; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dave (Karen) Smith, Brighton Twp.; Henry (Alice) Waxler, Rochester Twp., and Donald (Linda) Waxler, Rochester; one sister, Nancy Williamson, Hopewell Twp., and several nieces, nephews and their families.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda (McCaskey) Smith, 2004, and Catherine McCaskey, 2004; one son, Richard E. Young, 2012; one grandson, Joshua R. McCaskey, 2011; her first husband, Earl McCaskey, 1977; two brothers, Clyde Matchett and infant Frederick, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ben and Evelyn Young.

Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, where a funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Win Groseclose officiating.

Interment will follow in Burry's Church Cemetery.
