Marie (Saibena) DeMaria

Marie (Saibena) DeMaria, 84, of Fallston, passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 at Friendship Ridge.

Born August 10, 1929, in Fallston, she was a daughter of the late August and Ceasarina (Canavesia) Saibena. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, New Brighton, where she was very active and a member of the C.D. of A. and the Christian Mothers.

Surviving are her husband, John A. DeMaria, whom she married July 23, 1949; two sons, John A. DeMaria, Gaithersburg, MD, and Jeff A. DeMaria, Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Megan, Daniel and Jennifer; one sister-in-law, Sarah Saibena, Elk Grove, CA, and several nieces, nephews and their families.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James A. "JD" DeMaria, on May 28, 2013; three brothers, Joseph, Carl and Biagio Saibena, and two sisters, Rose McClure and Virginia DeMarco.

Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, where prayer will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Noon in the Holy Family Catholic Church.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, New Brighton.

The family wishes to thank both the staff of 5 Main at Friendship Ridge and Good Samaritan Hospice for their care and concern.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Foundation, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.
