Marjorie J. Hughes, 78, of New Brighton, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side.
Born May 23, 1936, in Smiths Ferry, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jefferson and Charlotte (Burford) Burchett. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Her true enjoyment in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which always brought great joy and happiness to her. Marjorie's passion for children and helping others led her to work in the daycare at the New Brighton Y.M.C.A. for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald H. Hughes; a brother, Jefferson "Bud" Burchett; and a sister, Vivian Billing.
Marjorie is survived by one daughter, Terry Hughes Hendershot, Rochester; a son, Rick (Debbie) Hughes, Beaver; six grandchildren, Tabitha (James) Cromartie, Michael (Celina) Hendershot, Rickey (Erin) Hughes Jr., Ryan (Sara) Hughes, Carly Peters and Andrew Peters; six great-grandchildren, Aubrielle Cromartie, Ethan Hendershot, Ryan Jr., Levi, Ricky III, and Emma Hughes; one brother, John (Vickie) Burchett, Monaca; three sisters, Shirley (Angelo) Ganz, New Brighton; Charlotte (Raymond) Peters, Pulaski, and Dorothy (Donald) Koble, New Brighton, and her dearest friend, Julie Winters, New Brighton.
There will be a private visitation and funeral service for immediate family on Tuesday, May 5.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marjorie Hughes' name to the Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley Beaver, 1000 Dutch Ridge Road, Beaver, PA 15009.
