NEW BRIGHTON

Mark A. Cardosi, 48, of New Brighton, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver.

Born October 1, 1965 in New Brighton, a son of Jean (Facciolo) Cardosi Eckhardt of Beaver Falls and the late Henry "Nick" Cardosi. He was a graduate of New Brighton High School, Class of 1984, and received his bachelor of science in graphic design from La Roche College in 1988. Mark was a dedicated volunteer coaching for 24 plus years in New Brighton youth baseball, T-Ball through Legion. He was assistant golf coach for the New Brighton High School golf team. He also served on the New Brighton Borough council and was a member of the F.O.E. #1342 in New Brighton. An avid golfer, he belonged to many leagues through the years, one of which and most recent, the Bandits. His favorite golf course in the area was Beaver Valley Golf Course, where he holds the record low score of 63 on 18 holes. Mark founded the Dave Vukich Memorial Golf Outing, in honor of his friend, and raised over $85,000 in scholarship money awarded to New Brighton High School seniors who participated in New Brighton Legion Baseball.

Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife of 25 years, Peggy Lynn (McCloskey) Cardosi; two sons, Dominic and Nathan Cardosi, both at home; his mother-in-law, Margaret "Peg" McCloskey, Beaver; two brothers, Rick (Karen) Cardosi, Cranberry Twp. and Paul (Lisa) Cardosi, Conway; three sisters, Chris (Tony) Rosatone, Center Twp.; Judy Cardosi, Barb (Meric) Hume, St. Charles, MO; sister-in-law, Eileen (Dan) Madgar, New Brighton; brother-in-law, Ron (Marianne) McCloskey, Avalon; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, 1612 Third Ave., New Brighton, www.jjsprattfh.com, where prayer will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in the Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Father Tom Kredel officiating.

The family would like to thank the liver transplant team at Allegheny General Hospital and nursing staff on the 9th floor for their excellent care and compassion. We would also like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver. Words cannot express how grateful we are for the support and outstanding care of Mark and our whole family during such a difficult time.
